How to harness the energy of the stars? Very high temperature plasmas are being produced by man to study possible ways of exploiting the thermonuclear energy of fusion. This could provide an inexhaustible source of energy, which could preserve the environment and remain compatible with sustainable development. To reach their goals, scientists have devised strange machines called "Tokamaks". The film is built entirely upon synthetic images and takes the spectator on a visit of the installations and finally right into the core of a reactor of fusion.

Great Moments in Science: Manhole Cover First in Space · Animation · Australie · 1999 · 5'

History books willingly claim that the first man-made object sent into space was the Sputnik satellite on October 4th, 1957. This comical film mixes animated sequences and archives to put forward another theory: that the first object in orbit was a metal cover from an underground chimney, blasted off during an American nuclear test. The story tells that the speed of the cover was greater than that needed to put an object into orbit around the earth, which is 7 Kms per second. Take a trip back into the past, the fifties and the legend of the atom.
