The Videotheque
|
In its statutes, the Foundation of the International Festival of films on Energy Lausanne (FIFEL), created in 1991, defines its aspirations int he following terms: "It is the aim of the Foundation to promote by means of cinema, and/or a system of awards, information on all possible forms and sources of energy, and on techniques and research developments in the field of energy. It also seeks to favour dialogue between energy specialists and the public." The Foundation is intended to be of public utility and is a non-profit-making organization. Since 1986, a Festival has been organized every two years in Lausanne, offering a platform for film directors and producers from all over the world on subjects relative to energy. Over the years, more than 700 films have been screened in public. To get the most out of this considerable stock of images, the Foundation board and Festival management have created a videotheque for use by schools, researchers and any institutions or individuals interested in energy questions. This data bank is now set up and about a hundred titles are available. Almost sixty countries have already made contributions to this unique event. Today, FIFEL archives can boast a selection of documentaries on a wide range of energy subjects: coal, oil, gas or nuclear fuels, hydraulic, solar, geothermal, wind or wave power, as well as vegetable and animal fuel, not forgetting the most far reaching experiments and research, animation and fiction films, and advertising spots, which are more recreative. It is the endeavour of the future videotheque to become the memory of the great energy saga. Enquiries: Energy Film Festival Lausanne |
